Commercial cleaning in Plymouth

Not every business is an office. We build cleaning contracts around how your premises are used. Whether that is a shop floor, a treatment room, a gym, a school or a trade unit.

Fully insured DBS-checked team Eco-friendly products

Cleaning built around your premises, not a template

A hair salon, a dental practice and a trade counter have almost nothing in common from a cleaning point of view. One is about hair, product residue and mirrors; one is about documented infection control; one is about dust, oil and heavy foot traffic in and out of a yard. Selling all three the same "commercial clean" is how standards fail.

We survey the premises, work out where the real risk and the real customer perception sit, and write the specification around that. Then we price it per visit so you know exactly what you are buying. For standard desk-based workplaces, our office cleaning service is usually the better fit.

We work across Plymouth and into South Devon and south-east Cornwall: the city centre and Barbican, the retail parks, the business parks at Estover and Derriford, and premises in Saltash, Ivybridge and Tavistock.

What a commercial contract typically covers

  • Customer-facing areas cleaned before opening
  • Hard floors swept, mopped or machine-scrubbed
  • Carpets vacuumed and spot-treated
  • Washrooms sanitised, descaled and restocked
  • Staff kitchens and break rooms
  • Glass, doors, partitions and display surfaces
  • High-touch points sanitised: handles, rails, card machines
  • Waste and recycling managed, bin stores kept tidy
  • Treatment rooms or clinical areas to your protocol
  • Changing rooms, showers and lockers
  • Dust control in workshop and storage areas
  • Periodic high-level dusting, vents and light fittings
  • Seasonal deep cleans and carpet or upholstery work
  • Documented schedule and monthly audit

Retail and hospitality

In retail, cleaning is part of the display. Smeared glass, a dusty shelf edge or a dull floor undermines a shop far more than most owners realise, because the customer reads it as carelessness about the product. We clean retail units before opening so the first customer of the day sees the space at its best, and we focus effort on glass, floors, fitting rooms and the till area.

Hospitality and food premises carry an extra layer: cleaning is part of your food safety management and your hygiene rating. We work to documented schedules, use colour-coded equipment to prevent cross-contamination, and keep records you can show an inspector. Front-of-house and back-of-house are specified separately because they need different chemicals and different cloths.

Clinical, dental and treatment spaces

Clinical cleaning is not deep cleaning done more carefully. It is a different discipline, with defined zones, defined products, defined cloth protocols and a written record. We clean to the practice's own infection prevention policy rather than imposing a generic one, because you are the party accountable to your regulator.

In practical terms that usually means: clinical waste handled only by your staff, surfaces cleaned in a set order from clean to dirty, single-use or laundered colour-coded cloths, documented sign-off per room, and staff who understand why they must never move or improvise around instruments and sharps. Our cleaners working in these environments are briefed specifically for them.

Gyms, studios, schools and nurseries

Gyms and studios are high-sweat, high-touch, high-complaint environments. Equipment handles, mats, benches, changing rooms and showers are what members judge you on, and they need sanitising daily rather than weekly. Mould in a shower corner costs memberships.

Schools and nurseries bring the DBS requirement to the front. All our staff are DBS-checked as standard, which makes placing cleaners in education settings straightforward, and we are used to working around term dates with heavier cleans in the holidays when classrooms are empty and floors can be stripped and re-sealed properly.

Workshops, trade counters and industrial units

Industrial cleaning is about dust, oil, and safety instead of appearance. Walkways and stair treads need to stay free of slip risk, dust needs controlling rather than redistributing, and the staff welfare areas (mess rooms, washrooms, drying rooms) matter more to the workforce than the shop floor does.

We will tell you plainly where a cleaning contract is and is not the right tool. Oil spill containment, machine cleaning and anything requiring work at height or confined space entry are specialist jobs; we clean around and alongside them and will say so instead of taking on work we should not.

Commercial cleaning prices

Everything is quoted per visit after a free site survey. Premises of the same size can differ by a factor of two, so a square-footage price list would only mislead you.

Good to know

Frequently asked questions

Retail units and showrooms, salons and barbers, dental and medical practices, gyms and studios, schools and nurseries, cafés and food premises, offices, business centres, and workshops or trade counters. If you are a desk-based workplace, our office cleaning page covers that specifically.

Yes. That is how most commercial contracts run. Pre-opening cleans are standard for retail and hospitality, and after-hours works well for clinics and gyms. We hold keys and alarm codes formally, and all keyholders are DBS-checked.

Yes, as part of the contract rather than on request. You get insurance certificates, COSHH data sheets for every product used on your site, a risk assessment and a method statement: the pack most landlords and auditors ask for.

That is exactly how we prefer to work in regulated premises. You are accountable to your regulator, so we clean to your documented policy, use colour-coded equipment to your protocol, and keep room-by-room records you can produce at inspection.

Every APS cleaner is DBS-checked as standard, not just those placed in education settings. That makes staffing schools, nurseries and youth facilities straightforward, and we are used to working around term dates.

Yes. Seasonal deep cleans, post-refit cleans, pre-inspection cleans and end-of-lease cleans are all common. For a premises being handed back to a landlord, an after builders clean or a full commercial deep clean is usually what is needed.
